Hall staff is available to assist with you regaining access to your room if you find yourself locked out at any time during the day. Please refer to the information below to learn how to regain access when you are locked out.
LOCKED OUT?
If you are locked out of your unit, you can request a temporary loan key at all times or request for a lockout to be completed between 8 p.m.-8 a.m. during standard operations.
- Loan Key
- To receive a loan key, please visit your assigned Loan Key Desk which are open 7 days a week with a limited closure from 6:30-8 a.m. each day. During this closure please utilize the RA On Call. Staff will be present to issue a loan key to re-enter your space. You may request a loan key at any time.
- Lockout
- If you locked your permanent key in your unit, you can contact your community’s RA On Call between the hours of 8 p.m.-8 a.m. to have hall staff key you into your residential space. You will complete a paper request form with the hall staff member.
HOW TO REQUEST
You can submit a loan key request online using your personal device or by visiting your community’s loan key desk. You will need your device that has access to Duo Security to finalize your request online. If you cannot access a device with Duo Security capability, a paper form will be provided.
- Log into the Online Housing System
- Click Apply/Login
- After logging in, click "Request Loan Key or Replacement Key" and follow the on screen instructions.
- Once you have a submitted request, you will be able to checkout a loan key from your community’s loan key desk.
- Belk - Belk, Lynch, Miltimore, or Wallis
- Martin - Cedar, Elm, Greek Village, Hawthorn, Hickory, Maple, Martin, Oak, Pine. or Witherspoon
- Wilson - Holshouser, Hunt, Laurel, Levine, Scott, or Wilson
An online request for a lockout may not be necessary as lockouts performed by in hall staff will typically utilize a paper request form.
COST FOR LOAN KEYS & LOCKOUTS
Each loan key check out or lockout request is $5. These charges will be billed to your student account to be paid at a later date.
LOAN KEY EXTENSIONS
If an extension is needed for a loan key, please go to the community Loan Key Desk and speak to a staff member. Extensions are typically only granted for 72-hours. It is expected that you are able to retrieve your permanent key back within 72-hours. Please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Original key codes printed on the permanent key
- Current photo of your permanent key
- Estimate of amount of time an extension is needed
- Mailing tracking number and anticipated arrival date
STUDENT ID CARD ACCESS
If your Student ID is not letting you access the building you live in, please go to your Village Loan Key Desk and staff can work to help resolve your issue. If it is after the hours of 5pm, you may be provided a loan access card to access the building until the issue can be resolved with the 49er ID Card office the following business day. If there is an issue with your mobile ID, please contact the 49er ID Card office.
