What made you want to be a #49erRA and how has the role prepared you for life after college?

It’s amazing. I love being a 49er and being able to share that love through being an RA is so important to me. I love helping, talking and joking with my residents and just being here for them makes me so happy. I wouldn’t be a proud RA at anywhere but UNCC.

How do you manage your academics with your job?

I manage my academics with my job through time management. This job requires around 20 hours on top of being a full-time student. So I use Google Calendar to manage my time and schedule time for school, work, and social life. Housing also knows that I'm a student first so they can be accommodating during stressful times in the semester but I don't have any issues managing both.

Why do you recommend living on campus to other students?

I recommend living on campus to others because of the community and convenience. Living on campus allows students to have a close community with people in their residence hall and other students living on campus. It's also very convenient for classes and dining. UNCC Housing makes it easy to be social and healthy.

What have you learned about yourself and others since starting the RA position?

I have learned a lot about myself while in this position. My leadership, communication, problem-solving, temperament, and event planning skills have grown exponentially since I became an RA. Like my leadership skills, I learned what leadership works for me how to be a better leader, and how to talk to others effectively. Overall this job helped me become a better person and employee.
