Move-In Day Tips
- Stick to your move-in arrival time. Please remember to arrive on campus on your selected date and time. If you have not selected a move in arrival time yet, please log into the Online Housing System and choose one now.
- Bring a photo ID. You will need to provide identification to pick up your key.
- Upload your ID photo and set up your 49er Mobile ID. In order to access the residence hall, residents need to set up their 49er Mobile ID. Set up your mobile UNC Charlotte ID at least 1 business day before your arrival. If you haven’t yet, please follow the instructions here.
- Only two guests are permitted. You may bring a maximum of two guests to help you unload and carry your belongings. These two guests must remain the same all day- they cannot be swapped out for additional guests.
- Cardboard Disposal. During move in, all cardboard boxes should be broken down and placed in the cardboard corrals located outside of each hall. Please do not dispose of cardboard in the dumpsters inside or outside of the building.
- Follow your halls driving and parking directions. Directions on campus and parking instructions vary by housing assignment. Review your halls directions here.
- Guests should wait in their vehicle while you pick up your key. Once you arrive on campus, walk to your assigned building and check-in to receive your keys. To reduce congestion in lobby areas, guests should not enter the building while you pick up your key and should instead wait in their vehicle until it's time to begin unloading.
- Bring your own moving equipment. We are unable to provide hand trucks or carts to assist your move.
- Only pack what is essential. You can find our recommended packing list here.
- Appliance Rental + Dormify. Residents can rent select appliances including micro-fridge and mini fridge/freezer units eliminating the hassle of transporting and carrying your own unit from home (for delivery prior to move-in, place your order by August 10). Dormify is a convenient and simple solution to all of your college bedding/decorating needs. Details about each program can be found here.
