Why did you choose to be an RA and what has been the most fulfilling part of your experience?
I chose to become an RA because I was inspired by my own RA and the community she created in the hall during my freshman year. I also wanted to create an inclusive and welcoming community that was a safe space for people to come home to. The most fulfilling part of my experience has been the connections I have made with my residents and being able to be a resource to help them transition through the milestones of the first year of college.
How do you manage your academics, leadership roles, and extracurriculars with your Resident Advisor job?
Being in the RA role, I have developed my multi-tasking skills to get all my assignments and extracurriculars done along with my RA responsibilities. I have also had amazing support from my RECs and staff members who are always there to lend a helping hand when I need it.
How has the Resident Advisor role developed you personally and professionally?
The RA Role has taught me important professional skills such as crisis management, multitasking, and professional writing. Through my interactions with my residents, I have grown personally into a more understanding and empathetic individual.
