What do you love most about being a Niner?
To begin with the academics, I love the English department and the amount of real care and passion of its faculty and students. But UNC Charlotte has so much more to offer its students beyond academics—career coaching, student employment, medical services, the library, tons of student organizations, and so many other resources. I think that has made my time at UNC Charlotte a fantastic, holistic experience, and it has allowed me to grow as a young adult. In addition, the community here is close-knit, supportive, and diverse.
What made you want to be a Housing Ambassador?
I’ve had great experiences living on campus, so I knew I could bring some enthusiasm and personal experiences to the job!
What extracurricular activities are you involved with on campus?
I am currently a peer tutor at the University Center for Academic Excellence, and I have participated in several faith-based organizations on campus. I am also a study abroad alum and was formerly a staff writer and assistant editor for our student newspaper the Niner Times.
What is the best part about living on campus?
For me, the convenience of living on campus made it a great step into living independently. As an emerging adult, it was super helpful to live so close to everything I needed—classes, dining halls, on-campus markets, the student health center, bus routes, etc. In addition, I made some of my closest friends living in our residence halls, and I think the on-campus experience is really conducive to forming connections and finding community.
