- Bring a photo ID. You will need to provide identification to pick up your key.
- Upload your ID photo and set up your 49er Mobile ID. In order to access the residence hall, residents need to set up their 49er Mobile ID. Set up your mobile UNC Charlotte ID at least 1 business day before your arrival. If you haven’t yet, please follow the instructions here.
- Only two guests are permitted. You may bring a maximum of two guests to help you unload and carry your belongings. These two guests must remain the same all day- they cannot be swapped out for additional guests.
- Bring your own moving equipment. We are unable to provide hand trucks or carts to assist your move.
- Only pack what is essential. You can find our recommended packing list here.
- Driving and parking directions. Residents will check in at their assigned halls' front desk. Please enter campus via the entrance closest to your residence hall and park in a guest parking deck/lot (a parking map can be found here).
- NOTE: Unless, explicitly directed, do not drive your vehicle into courtyard areas or onto walkways. If you do and damage occurs, you may be changed for repairs.
- Check out our Packing List, you can also download a printable version.
- Review our prohibited items list.
- Pack loose items into boxes or suitcases. Clothing can be packed in suitcases or left on hangers.
- Label each box with your name, building, room number and cell phone number.
- If possible, pack your TV, computer, and printer in the boxes that they came in.
- Check with your roommate(s) when possible about who is bringing what (to avoid duplicates).
- Be mindful of how many devices you plan to plug in. Circuit breakers for each room can only handle so much. Using too many appliances at once can trip them which will cut the power to your room until maintenance can reset it. Large gaming PCs are the most common cause.
- Bring small tacks/push pins for hanging decor on your walls, command strips cause damage when removed improperly.

To facilitate a respectful, friendly living environment, we encourage you to talk to your roommate and try to resolve problems between each other first. You can find tips on how to navigate tough conversations with your roommates at Roommate Relationships.
If roommates cannot resolve their conflict, residents are encouraged to inform their Resident Advisor, Graduate Hall Advisor or Residence Education Coordinator. The Resident Advisor (RA) lives in the area with the students, while the Residence Education Coordinator (REC) and/or Graduate Hall Advisor (GHA) supervises the building and staff. Your RA is the best person to begin discussions with and then you can engage the REC and/or GHA if the RA cannot resolve the issues.
The following are steps our residential staff will take to assist in creating an agreement if one does not exist:
- The staff member will review the Living Agreement or assist in creating an agreement if one does not exist.
- The staff member will assist the roommates in a mediation process to open the lines of communication and attempt to come to a compromise or agreement.
- If students cannot arrive at a compromise after participating in the recommended mediations, a room change is possible depending on space availability and room "freeze" dates.
Students wishing to protect their belongings from the possibility of loss should obtain appropriate insurance coverage. Some residents may be covered under their parents' existing homeowner's or renter's policy. Check with your personal insurance company for more information.
