We believe that living on campus at UNC Charlotte is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

By living on campus, students are making an investment in their education. Research shows that students living on campus earn higher grades, are more likely to continue in college and are more likely to graduate within four years. These national studies have proven true as we look at the data collected on our campus.

Student relationships and interactions with our residence hall staff are a major contributor to the success of campus residents. These live-in staff members, in addition to the members of our team that work in the main office, provide a web of support for the students who live in the residence halls. This support has proven invaluable as students transition to campus, progress through their courses of study and become actively engaged in the UNC Charlotte community.

In addition to staff connections, campus residents have academic support and social networks not available to commuters.

The Residence Life team officially implemented our Gold Mind: Residential Curriculum in 2017, as defined by College Student Educators, International (ACPA). Our team of professional educators focus on three learning goals:

  • Awareness of Self & Others

  • Interpersonal Skills

  • Well-being.

Students will have opportunities to connect with their peers through student-led social and community building events with the goal of increasing a sense of belonging at UNC Charlotte.

Additionally Residence Education Coordinators and Resident Advisors work together to host events designed to help students learn the skills they need to be holistically successful here at UNC Charlotte.

Residential Curriculum: Gold Mind

Residents at UNC Charlotte will develop a sense of connection and purpose within their communities by building interpersonal skills and engaging in reflective experiences that support personal growth and positive community engagement

Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved on campus.

The best way to meet other residents living in your hall is to attend hall events and programs. After move in, your RA will share information about upcoming events but you can also find events for your hall by joining your hall’s NinerEngage page!

When you live with us on campus, you are automatically a member of the Resident Students Association (RSA). You can join RSA through your Residential Leadership Council and serve as representatives to RSA meetings. RSA serves as the representative body for all residential students and plans a variety of social activities throughout the year. To get involved, please join RSAs NinerEngage page.

This select group of students will work in tandem with other residents, RECs, and RAs; gain leadership skills and enhance their personal development; and engage in their community through the coordination of social and service events. We encourage you to apply! Be on the lookout for the application QR code at move in.

National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is a service and recognition based organization affiliated with NACURH, the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Inc. Here at Charlotte, our chapter is designed to give local, regional and national recognition to students making outstanding contributions to their residence halls. NRHH is the only nationwide organization that recognizes residence hall leaders. Membership in our chapter is limited which makes membership competitive. As you can see, it is a very select group of leaders. Being selected into the membership is an honor in which one can take a great amount of pride.

Housing and Residence Life is one of the largest student employers on campus. Students are able to apply for a variety of positions, including Resident Advisor, Desk Assistant, Housing Ambassador and Maintenance Assistant. Visit our employment webpage for more information.
