I chose to be an RA because I wanted to give back to my community. I was inspired by my own RA as a first-year student, both by the programming in my hall and the support he gave me, and over the years it has been rewarding to do that for others: guiding residents through different stages of life, planning programs, and being part of a team that wants to make the on-campus experience memorable. The role has pushed me to think on my feet and handle sensitive situations with care. There are ups and downs, but the exciting programs, the banquet, my staff, and being there for residents who need it most far outweigh the hard days.
