Brody Edgerton
I chose to become an RA because I saw the meaningful connections my sister made during her three years as an RA at NC State, and because of the positive impact my own RA had on me during my first year at UNC Charlotte. Now, as a second-year RA, the most fulfilling part of the role has been building relationships with my residents and creating a space where they feel comfortable sharing their experiences and asking for help. The role has strengthened my professional communication skills and made me more confident interacting with people from different backgrounds. It has also taught me the importance of staying organized and completing responsibilities before they build up. Through Street Team, I hope to use my experience to help improve new-hire training and ensure incoming RAs feel confident and prepared to support their residents.
