Why did you choose to be an RA or DA and what has been the most fulfilling part of your experience?

I chose to be an RA because I have not had a traditional college experience, and looking back I  wish I had someone to guide me through college life. I hope to be that person for someone, a  good resource that will make them feel like Charlotte is a second home.

How do you manage your academics, leadership roles, and extracurriculars with your RA or DA job?

By having an online schedule, online and paper calendar, and keeping an agenda. I get  distracted very easily and have a bad habit of procrastinating at times, so having stuff in  paper and in writing has done wonders for me. Also waking up early, because your day  feels so much longer when you start early.

How has the RA or DA role developed you personally and professionally?

My RA role has developed me tremendously professionally. I have to hold myself  accountable and make sure that all of my boards and mindful interactions are done in a  timely manner. Being part of the admin committee for Martin has helped me curate a  professional setting in the office and I have gained experience running a shared calendar.  Personally, it has made me appreciate small interactions more, small talk can be very valuable.
