Announcing Phase XVI!

We are excited to announce that construction of Phase XVI, which was initially delayed in 2020, is set to restart this November. Phase XVI was intentionally designed to replace Moore and Sanford Hall towers with another affordable on-campus housing option. The new six-story, 147,000 sq.ft. residence hall will complete the upper south village residential quad and provide a direct pathway to South Village (SoVi) Dining Hall.

Helping new students find their home at Charlotte while they navigate their academic courses is important to us so we’ve planned Phase XVI with the first-year student experience in mind. The building’s design includes traditional double rooms for up to 692 residents and their Resident Advisors. Resident rooms are supported by shared bathrooms (which provide more privacy than most traditional style residence halls) with lounges and study rooms on each floor. The building will also include a community kitchen, laundry room, game tables, and office and living space for Housing and Residence Life staff.

The new residence hall is expected to open in August 2023.

You’re invited to join us on this journey! To keep up with the construction process, follow us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
